Vineyards
At the Osborne Family Estate
Tempra Tantrum wines are crafted and produced in the Tierra de Castilla region, about an hour’s drive from the vibrant capital of Madrid. Though wine has been produced here for millennia, the Tierra de Castilla appellation is relatively new and was established outside the bounds of the traditional denominación de origen (DO) system in order to give winemakers the freedom to experiment and craft contemporary wines unhindered by restrictions or tradition.
The grapes for Tempra Tantrum wines are grown on the Osborne family’s estate at Malpica de Tajo, which sits on 2,500 acres of vineyards planted with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Petit Verdot, among other new world plantings. As a state-of the art winery, Osborne uses the latest technological innovations including sophisticated computer and satellite monitoring of vine conditions, computer-controlled irrigation, and an on-site weather station.
